CW Biodiesel

Central Washington Biodiesel is a new link on Saveearth.net and is the only "100% Washington made biodiesel fuel. Central Washington Biodiesel will focus on using Washington-produced vegetable oil to produce biodiesel, and we will target agricultural markets as consumers of our biodiesel. Off-road agricultural and construction equipment produce far more air pollutants than over-the-road diesel engines. " (source http://www.cwbiodiesel.com)

CW Biodiesel

This site has good source of information explaining biodiesel, how its made, what different sources are and which are better for our planet. Here is a good article on the use of biodiesel worldwide.

"Biodiesel worldwide

Biodiesel is widely used in Europe and in the U.S. Midwest. In Europe (where ultra-low sulfur petrodiesel is already the norm) biodiesel is often the lowest-priced fuel at pumps because of government policies based on its environmental profile.

While governments around the world are embracing biodiesel, diesel engine manufacturers have adopted a more cautious stance; DaimlerChrysler has only recently approved B20 for use in all of their products that are in fleet, military,..."to finish the story on their site click HERE (source http://www.cwbiodiesel.com/biodiesel/index.html)

Climate Ark is another new link on SaveEarth.net. Their site is a "climate change and global warming portal and search engine that promotes public policy that addresses global climate change through reductions in carbon dioxide and other emissions, renewable energy, energy conservation and ending deforestation." Thats a mouthful, but when you go to their site here you find an easy use layout with all sorts of news about the climate running down the left hand side and very resourceful blog covering all aspects of climate change.
The oil palm biofuel industry -- the scourge of Asia and the world's rainforests -- is continuing to expand into Papua New Guinea (PNG). Malaysian company Vitroplant has been granted necessary permits by the PNG government to begin clearing 70% of the rainforests on biodiversity rich Woodlark Island, some 60,000 hectares..." read more on their site HERE (source http://www.climateark.org/blog/)

Direct Fuel Cells

Have you herd of this? Nor had I...until reading up on this from one of the links on SaveEath.net This new fuel cell technology is easily deployed and is able to provide electricity through the internal reformation of waste water gas to generate the hydrogen to generate power with "virtually zero smog emissions." Direct Fuel CellTheir site FuelCellEnergy goes into detail explaining how fuel cells work and how their products using direct fuel cell energy are easily deployed and reach high levels of efficiencies. Here is a good explanation from their site on how it works. "The FuelCell Process

A fuel cell is made up of an electrolyte member sandwiched between fuel and oxidant electrodes. Typically, a fossil fuel or biogas from which hydrogen is extracted is used for most common applications. The oxidant is typically plain air. The fuel is oxidized at the “anode electrode”, releasing electrons that move to the “cathode electrode” via the external circuit. These electrons meet the hydrogen and push charged ions across the electrolyte. The charged ions (positively or negatively charged) move across the ion conducting electrolyte member, completing the electrical circuit. This electrochemical process requires very few moving parts, typically limited to air blowers and fuel/water pumps. Because of high fuel conversion efficiency, the flexibility to generate Combined Heat and Power (CHP), low-impact characteristics, and negligible environmental emissions, fuel cells are a desirable source of power generation for a broad range of markets and applications. Fuel cells are fast replacing reciprocating engines and gas turbines as the most environmentally-friendly sources of on-site power."
SaveEarth.net first goal...Education

SaveEarth.net has set our first goal of 10 XO computers from the One Laptop Per Child OLPC program. As you begin to think about saving the planet you realize education is key. One program with this mission to educate the planet is the OLPC program.
XO Laptop
"One learning child. One connected child. One laptop at a time.

The mission of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish our goal, we need people who believe in what we’re doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege. " (source http://www.laptop.org)"It’s not a laptop project. It’s an education project.

In 2002, MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte experienced first-hand how connected laptops transformed the lives of children and their families in a remote Cambodian village. A seed was planted: If every child in the world had access to a computer, what potential could be unlocked? What problems could be solved? These questions eventually led to the foundation of One Laptop per Child, and the creation of the XO laptop.

OLPC’s mission is to provide a means for learning, self-expression, and exploration to the nearly two billion children of the developing world with little or no access to education. While children are by nature eager for knowledge, many countries have insufficient resources to devote to education—sometimes less than $20 per year per child (compared to an average of $7,500 in the United States). By giving children their very own connected XO laptop, we are giving them a window to the outside world, access to vast amounts of information, a way to connect with each other, and a springboard into their future. And we’re also helping these countries develop an essential resource—educated, empowered children.

We have established our first goal and mission to donate funds from the directory for 10 XO computers from OLPC. So by promoting your site on our directory you will also be promoting OLPC. Of course you can support directly as well. One of the many ways we can change the way we impact our planet is through education. OLPC supplies laptops to children of school age with a laptop were they can connect to the world and learn through a variety of online informational sources and programs preloaded on the laptop. Here are some of the "Activities" loaded on the XO:
